Northern Ireland benefitted from £32 million in 2014 through the local onshore wind industry, according to a report released by the Northern Ireland Renewables Industry Group (NIRIG).
This includes a return of over £9 million to the local areas where onshore wind developments are located and represents half of all Northern Ireland wind farm spend. The report, Onshore wind in Northern Ireland: Economic Impacts, which was conducted by BiGGAR Economics, is the first report to provide detailed figures for Northern Ireland, and shows that increasing levels of investment spent on windfarms are coming back into the local economy
